Bartercard exchanges aim for wide benefits

LONG-TERM Bartercard members Steve Davidson and Leanne Murdoch have brought the Cairns franchise with the aim of continuing to strengthen business across the region.

The owners of Coral Coast Cartridges for seven years said they appreciated the benefits of belonging to Bartercard.

They said they were ideally positioned to grow and add value to the Bartercard network, both within and beyond.

Some of their plans include expanding the barter network, providing a world-class service to improve the lifestyle of business owners and strengthening Bartercard’s tourism and hospitality membership in Cairns to make the region a destination of choice for Bartercard members around the world.

“This will translate to securing more business for the region in the cash economy,” Mr Davidson said.

“With Bartercard everyone benefits. We’ve seen first-hand how.  Bartercard has supplemented Coral Coast Cartridges through extra sales and services and we can’t wait to expand Bartercard’s business reach in Cairns.”

“For those who aren’t familiar with Bartercard it’s one of the most effective ways to off-set a business’s cash expenses, add value for its customers while maintaining price integrity and joining a business network in excess of 35,000 members to showcase products and services too.”

Bartercard is a trading exchange where members barter for goods and services without exchanging cash. Many members use it to reduce cash out-lay on expenses and instead spend Bartercard Trade Dollars on services such as marketing or bookkeeping that could assist their business to improve or expand.

Others use it for lifestyle expenses such as travel and leisure, entertainment, dining, home renovations and other items for which they might not be able to set aside cash.

The couple plan to expand the support that Bartercard provides to community groups through sponsorship.

The franchise currently sponsors two local basketball teams, oztag and provides support for the Special Children’s Christmas Parties.

New trade co-ordinator Jonathan Packham, who joined Bartercard two years ago after running his Cairns-based business Platinum Graphics, also worked in hospitality, taking over the management of poorly performing businesses, diagnosing problems and implementing strategies to improve performance.

He said this was a chance for a new challenge: ‘Bartercard has helped my business so much that I know I’m going to enjoy helping others take advantage of what the membership has to offer.”
