About us
The Bartercard business model provides a business solution to SMEs and corporate Australia to convert their idle capacity into usable goods and services. This idle capacity can include downtime within labour based and professional services industries, additional machinery capacity for manufacturers and excess, slow moving or end-of-run stock for the wholesale or retail industries.
Although the concept of barter is thousands of years old, bartering through Bartercard is the most innovative way of combining modern technology, a community of businesses, and indirect and direct marketing channels to increase your customer base, sales, profit and improve cashflow.
Ever since the inception of Bartercard into the Australian economy in 1991, the way companies across the country conduct their day-to-day business has been revolutionised. Bartercard’s world-leading innovative Trade Exchange system enables over 55,000 trading members in six countries to benefit from the cashless economy of barter.
Involvement with IRTA
Bartercard is a founding member of the International Reciprocal Trade Association (Australasia) IRTA(A), whose main role is the governance of the industry's common code of ethics and peer review self-regulatory system.
The IRTA is a non-profit organisation of companies committed to promoting just and equitable standards of reciprocal trade (barter).
Signifying the contribution Bartercard and two of its founders have made to the global barter industry, Wayne Sharpe and Andrew Federowsky have been inducted into the IRTA Hall of Fame. This is one of the global trade economy's most exclusive clubs and the highest honour bestowed by IRTA. This honour of induction officially recognises individuals who are regarded as indisputable leaders in the barter industry.
